You only live once

You only live once

Some people say “You only live once”. Yes, that’s exactly why it’s so important to get to know God now, during your life on earth!

Eternal beings

Indeed we only live once here on earth, but: we will be judged after this life[1]. Humans are eternal beings: to live after this live eternally with God… or not[2].

Since after this life judgment will come[1], this question pops up:

How to stand righteous, innocent, pure in front of God? [3]

The terrible but honest answer is: we could not. No one is without faults in his or her life[4]. In the eyes of a holy and perfect God, even the smallest mistake or crime is making us impure. Ignoring God and not believing is even the main problem[5]. The result would be: missing out on heaven and spend eternity in a terrible place because of all these things you did wrong in life, being lost with only a dreadful future without God before you[6]…

And I saw a great white throne and Him Who sat on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.(Revelation 20:11-12)

God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day. (Psalm 7:11)

… when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)

For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father Who sent Him. (John 5:22-23)

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man Whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:31)

The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; the wicked is snared in the works of his own hands. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Psalm 9:17)

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14-15)

Can a mortal be more righteous than God? Can a man be more pure than his Maker? (Job 4:17)

[4]

For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20)

Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight – that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge. (Psalm 51:4)

For though I were righteous, I could not answer Him; I would beg mercy of my Judge. (Job 9:15)

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18)

[6]

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. (Matthew 7:13)

“And they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of the men who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, and their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.” (Isaiah 66:24)

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12)

And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:39-40)
